HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountaineers set the tone for the rest of the afternoon with the opening swimming event, taking a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
- The initial individual event, the 1,000 freestyle, followed and that winning tone was further established with not only a first-place finish by Morgan Nielsen, but also second-, third- and fourth-place finishes by Sophia Del Rosario, AvaMarie Hopewell and Sidney-Ann Morris, respectively.
- Mid- and sprint-freestyle events were next on the blocks, and again, Mountaineers were the first to the pads in both races. Makenna Lambert captured the 200 free and Joanna Swiderska was next with a win in the 50 free.
- Swiderska would hop up on the blocks two events later, after Leah Wagner recorded a win in the 200 individual medley, and win her second event, taking the 100 butterfly.
- Lambert then added another win to her afternoon, touching first in the 100 free.
- Pueblo swimmers would earn wins in the last three individual swimming events, but the Mountaineers were back on top of the podium with a win in the final event, the 400 free relay.
- Diving on the 1-meter board opened and closed Friday's event schedule. Chloe Brown took first in the opening 6-optionals session with Alexandra Wallis taking second and Ashlynn Mixon placing third, and in the closing session, Wallis edged Brown by 0.05 points, with Mixon third, in the 5-voluntaries session.
