HOW IT HAPPENED
  • One could use the word dominant to describe how Western played in all three sets. Through the sets WCU saw four ties but maintained control of the game; only allowing CSC to gain the lead a few times.
  • In the first set, the Mountaineers earned a quick 3-0 edge. The Eagles tried to keep up, but WCU pushed their lead 23-12. Chadron snuck in a few quick hits but Western came out on top 25-14.
  • A closer set two but the Mountaineers maintained control. A WCU 4-1 advantage was short lived as CSC tied the game at four a-piece. The Eagles first and only lead happened here as with a 6-5 edge. The battle continued seeing ties at 8-8, 11-11 and 12-12. The Mountaineers did not let up, jumping to 23-17 lead. Two kills by Western sealed the deal 25-17.
  • The final set was the closest of them all. WCU controlled the ball, grasping the first lead until CSC tied up the score at 8-8. The respective teams traded points seeing a few more ties. Eventually the Eagles earned a 22-21 edge over the Mountaineers. Not backing down Western was able to put the game away 25-23.
