Box Score Salt Lake City, Utah,  The Western Colorado Volleyball team forced the Griffins into four sets, came close but fell short on Saturday evening by a score of 3-1.
COLORADO UNIVERSITY VS WESTMINSTER UNIVERSITY
A close set one, but Westminster struck first and took a 10-2 lead. Kills by senior
Seyun Park and bad sets by WUT saw the score at 16-9. The Mountaineers got the ball on an attack error then a kill by freshman
Grace Devall cut the Griffins lead to seven. Points traded but the Griffins took set one 25-18.
WUT was first on the attack in set two, but WCU followed it up to make the score an even 1-1. The Griffins took a 5-1 lead but a set up from senior
Nur Turkmenoglu awarded junior
Olive Rolseth a kill 5-2. Westminster increased their lead, but junior
Pelin Aksoy was able to sneak in a kill 9-3. The Mountaineers got in the groove of things and earned four straight points 9-7. A run for WUT gave them a 17-7 edge. WCU kept battling, seeing service aces and kills, creating a close score 18-14. The Mountaineers got within a score 21-22, then continued to tie the set. Seeing a score of 26-26, two in a row kills by Rolseth sealed the deal. Western won the set 28-26.
The momentum was high for both teams. The score seeing 1-1, it was anyone's game. Western Colorado took the first point but shortly after Westminster answered back. A battle by both teams saw an even score the entire set. Scores going back and forth, leads changing every few points. WUT saw a 19-16 edge and kept the lead the rest of the set, winning 25-21.
The fourth set was just like the others, hard fought and even. Westminster with slight momentum went up 7-3. WCU came back and got within one 13-12. The set was neck and neck but the Griffins won 25-18 and the game 3-1.
Aksoy smashed 18 kills, had three aces, and seven digs. Rolseth followed with 10 kills, one ace, and two digs. SophomoreÂ
Chinaru Inoue lead the team with 20 digs. Turkmenoglu finished with 34 assists, five kills, one ace and 11 digs.
