RICHMOND, Va.  Western Colorado's Morgan Nielsen and Makenna Lambert earned inclusion on the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) 2024 Individual Scholar All-America award list, as announced by the organization Wednesday morning.

Nielsen earned a first-team honor while Lambert was named to the second team.

First-team Scholar All-America student-athletes must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and participated in their national championship meet. Second-team honorees must also achieve the same academic standard while posting a provisional "B" time standard for nationals.

Nielsen qualified for nationals in the 1,650-yard freestyle and by virtue of recording "B" times also in the 1,000 and 500, swam all three events at the 2024 NCAA Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.

She set school records in all three in the postseason, registering records in each at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship, then breaking her own record in the 500 at nationals.

Lambert posted career-best times in her four freestyle events at the RMAC championship meet in mid-February, including a seventh-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time that surpassed the NCAA provisional time standard for the national meet. She was voted to the first-team RMAC All-Academic team in late March.

The Western Colorado swim and dive program earned CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors for both the fall and spring semesters, and captured their third consecutive and fourth overall Brechler Award – presented to the RMAC teams with the highest GPA in each of the league's sports – in 2023-24.
