RICHMOND, Va. The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday released its list of 2024 Spring Scholar All-America Teams, a list of 722 teams that includes Western Colorado's program.
The Mountaineers posted a team grade-point average of 3.53 in the spring to double up on the year, after also earning CSCAA recognition in the fall semester.
CSCAA requires a minimum cumulative team GPA of at least a 3.00, and in the Spring 2024 semester there were 563 teams that were above a 3.30 GPA.
The 722 teams on the prestigious listing represent 417 different institutions from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, and the NAIA. Division II had 62 women's teams and 44 men's teams earn spots on the list.
Joining Western from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on the Spring 2024 list are Colorado Mesa University and Colorado School of Mines, which earned inclusion with their women's and men's teams.
The Mountaineers finished the 2023-24 season with a perfect 7-0 record in dual meets and were fifth at the RMAC swimming and diving championship meet. Freshman
Morgan Nielsen qualified for the NCAA D-II championship meet and competed in the 500-, 1,000-, and 1,650-yard freestyle events. Nielsen set school records in all three events, and was joined on the record board by
Leah Wagner, who broke the school record in the 200 breaststroke.
