GUNNISON, Colo. It came down to the final 20 minutes of the game as the Griffins and Mountaineers were tied at 34 going into halftime. Westminster's three trips to the free throw line with one minute and five seconds left on the clock gave them the 79-76 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Andrew Reichart gave Western Colorado the lead coming out of the half after going 2-for-2 at the free throw line. Tyler Halligan then extended the Mountaineers lead to five with a 3-point shot. A layup and 3-pointer would tie the game up at 39, but Halligan successfully drained a three to give his team the lead.
- Trevin Lieck came in the game at 15:46 on the clock and registered five points in a four-minute span giving the Mountaineers a one-point lead. It would not take long for the Griffins to regain control of the score as Trey Wood hit a layup for his team.
- Tied at 68 after a layup from Kade Juelfs. The two squads combined for four 3-pointers in a row which tied the game at 71. Drake Middleton then made a layup with 2:55 left in the game before Christian Still would tie the game for the final time at 73.
- The Griffins would end up going to the line three times on shooting fouls and went 6-for-6 giving them the win.
COURT NOTES
- Tyler Halligan led the team with a season-high 20 points while going 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Kade Juelfs (18 points) and Christian Still (12 points) also registered scored in double digits. As a team, the Mountaineers registered 45.3-percent shooting from the field in the 40-minute contest.
- Amar Rivers registered five rebounds with two blocks and two steals for the Mountaineers. Kade Juelfs tallied four steals against the Griffins.
- For Westminster, Pierce Sterling registered 30 points, while his team shot 53% from the field.

The Mountaineers will stay in Gunnison, Colo., as they welcome Chadron State and Colorado Christian next weekend. The Mountaineers will face the Eagles on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
