ALAMOSA, Colo. For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Mountaineers have won their third consecutive game after a thrilling 73-72 win over Adams State in Alamosa, Colo., Friday night. Kade Juelfs, Trevin Lieck and Andrew Reichart all scored in double figures with Juelfs leading the pack with 19 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Down 58-55 with five minutes, 23 seconds on the clock Kade Juelfs drained a three-pointer to pull the Mountaineers within one. The Grizzlies then made their way back to their side of the court as Jon Harge missed the jumper in the paint Luke Williams came up with the offensive rebound then missed a layup of his own.
- Spencer Wright came up with the defensive board passing the ball to Juelfs, who would go on to score another 3-pointer. Now up by two, the Mountaineers played strong defense against the Grizzlies, but Kaleb Mitchell was able to drive to the basket to tie the game. The Mountaineers turned the ball over off a lost ball, but Adams State could not finish its shot and missed the layup. As Lieck grabbed the defensive rebound for the Mountaineers, he passed it to Wright who was able to pass it to Juelfs who found nothing but net for yet another 3-pointer putting his team ahead by 3.
- Coming out of the under four-minute media timeout, the Grizzlies had the ball and were able to score off an offensive rebound pulling themselves back within a point. Tyler Halligan was able to give the Mountaineers back their 3-point lead with a layup, before Destan Williams drained a 3-pointer to tie it at 66.
- Halligan then got the ball back in his possession and drained a 3-pointer. The Grizzlies then missed a jump shot before Reichart would get fouled while grabbing the defensive rebound then went 2-for-2 from the line.
- After Adams State made two free throws of their own Wright got in on the scoring action with a jumper outside the paint. Western Colorado would then foul and sending Austin Fadel to the line. The Grizzlies went to the line with 34 seconds left and made both of them put them down by one. Williams then tried to make a jumper inside the paint giving Western Colorado their third consecutive win.
COURT NOTES
- Juelfs led the team with 19 points going 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. Lieck had 18 points for Western Colorado going 14-for-14 from the free throw line and 2-for-2 from the field. Reichart was the Mountaineers final player to score in double digits with 14 points shooting 6-for-7 from the field.
- Defensively, Reichart collected eight points while Lieck and Halligan picked up five rebounds. Halligan, Xavier Harris and Juelfs each picked up two steals apiece.
- The Mountaineers shot 44-percent from the field going 22-for-50 throughout the 40-minute contest. In the second half Western Colorado out shot the Grizzlies 45% to 35%.

The Mountaineers will need to carry their momentum into tomorrow's contest as they face a tough task in the nation's No. 3 team Fort Lewis. Western Colorado will take on the Skyhawks in Whalen Gym at 6 p.m.
