HOW IT HAPPENED
- Midwestern State won the jump and immediately got sent to the free throw line going 1-for-2. A turnover by WCU awarded MSU the ball and extended their lead 3-0 after a made layup. The Mountaineers in bounded the ball and found sophomore Tyler Halligan open for a shot beyond the arch 3-3.
- Buckets were traded until the Mustangs went on a small run putting the score at 20-14. A few scoreless minutes passed by until Halligan sunk a jumper 20-16. Senior Amar Rivers recorded a foul sending MSU to the charity stripe 22-16. Junior Trevin Lieck answered back with a in the paint jumper 22-18. Senior Kade Juelfs had back-to-back buckets, but a small run still saw MSU on top 31-23.
- Just under three minutes to play in the first half, Lieck hit a free-throw, combined with a fastbreak bucket by Halligan to make it a five-point game 31-26. Halligan was able to complete another fast break layup but the Mustangs recorded seven more points to go into halftime up 38-28.
- Midwestern kicked off the second half going up 42-28. Junior Andrew Reichart added to the Mountaineer's score with a tip in, but MSU answered back 44-30.
- Halligan and junior Ty Buckmon combined for five points but the Mustangs put up seven 51-35. After a made layup and a three, MSU took their largest advantage 59-38. Junior Jamel Hollins and senior Trey Anderson finished around the rim, adding to WCU's score but MSU responded 68-45.
- Points traded back-and-forth, the Mountaineers continued to battle, but when time ran out, the Mustangs came out on top 81-67.

COURT NOTES
- Rivers lead the offense, putting up 15 points alongside a steal and three rebound. Buckmon and Halligan both recorded 14 points. Buckmon also grabbed 5 rebounds and earned 4 steals and 3 assists. Juelfs and Anderson were contributors putting up 8 and 7 points, respectfully. Â
- Hollins grabbed 3 rebounds and put up 4 points while Reichart earned 5 boards.
- The Mountaineer bench earned 26 points. WCU went 43.8% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point line.
