Gunnison, Colo.  The Western Colorado Volleyball team hosts RMAC opponent South Dakota Mines on Tuesday, October 29 at 6pm.
WESTERN COLORADO GOING INTO THE MATCH |Â 2024 STATS
- Western Colorado Volleyball comes off a split weekend, defeating the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs 3-1 then dropping to Regis University 3-0.
- The Mountaineers placed thirteenth in the RMAC Volleyball Preseason Poll. They go into the match 8-12 overall and 5-4 in conference.
- WCU has a total of 973 kills, 886 assists, 110 aces, 1263 digs, and 113 blocks so far this season.
- Senior setter Nur Turkmenoglu hit 1,500 WCU assists against UCCS and earned a double-double: 46 assists and 16 digs. Turkmenoglu has control on both sides of the ball with 749 total assists (9.60 per set), 66 kills, 24 service aces, 157 digs and 24 blocks.
- Senior Seyun Park paves the way with 223 total kills (3.05 per set). After her is junior Pelin Aksoy with 167 total kills (2.49 per set). A close third is junior Olive Rolseth with 160 kills (2.25 per set) then senior Kennedy Kelly with 159 kills (2.12 per set).
- Sophomore Chinaru Inoue is the front runner for digs with 352 (4.51 per set). For WCU, Inoue earned the most digs in a conference match, versus UCCS, with 24. Sophomore Kacee Garcia also adds to digs with 160 (2.16 per set). Contributing to the defense is sophomore Kyra Kidd with 59 total blocks.
SOUTH DAKOTA MINES GOING INTO THE MACTH |Â 2024 STATS
- The Hardrockers placed fourth in the RMAC Volleyball Preseason Poll. They go into the match with an overall record of 12-7 overall and 7-2 in conference.
- South Dakota Mines is coming off a conference win, defeating New Mexico Highlands 3-0.
- SDM has accumulated 969 total kills, 889 total assists, 100 total aces, and 1239 total digs so far this season.
- Senior Alessandra Meoni paces the offense with 285 total kills (4.01 per set). After her is senior Jenna Curtis contributing 198 kills (3.00 per set).
- Graduate setter Kiley Metzger has racked up 685 assists (9.65 per set).
- The defense is controlled by junior Hannah Benes with 332 digs (4.68 per set), along with Meoni who is top in blocks with 47.
