Wallis to Join Clabaugh at NCAA Nationals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.  Western Colorado will be sending a second diver to the NCAA 2023 Division II Swimming and Diving Championship Meet as Alexandra Wallis surpassed the six-dive qualifying standard on the 1-meter board at Saturday's Maverick Last Chance Qualifier in El Pomar Natatorium on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.

Wallis had already met the 11-dive points standard (390.00) at the recent Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship meet, posting a score of 399.25.

Saturday at Mesa she posted a score of 277.75 to easily surpass the six-dive qualifying standard of 255.00.

Wallis will join teammate Meredith Clabaugh at the national meet, March 7-11 in Indianapolis, as Clabaugh had earlier posted an 11-dive qualifying score then added her bid-clinching 6-dive score at the RMAC meet.

This will mark the second consecutive national meet at which the Mountaineers will have a presence in the diving competition. Sarah Mortenson, then a senior at Western, qualified for the 2022 national meet on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.
