HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mountaineers had 16 points from the paint in the first half with 63% of their shots made from the field. Western Colorado took just five trips to the free throw line (60%) in the first half compared to Chadron State who went to the line seven times but made just 48% of their shots. This kept the Mountaineers within five points going into halftime with a score of 34-29.

Western Colorado and Chadron State went back and forth exchanging shots in the opening minutes of the second half until a three pointer by Jalen Patterson put the Eagles up by 14 points. The Mountaineers were granted two free throws on a technical foul which shrunk the lead to five at the 15-minute mark in the second half.

The Eagles found their stride in the second half shooting 59% from the field and 44% from beyond the arch. The Mountaineers limited the Eagles to just three shots at the free throw line, but the Eagles were perfect at the line.

Amar Rivers continued to shine defensively for the Mountaineers with four blocks in the second half.

Avery Rembao led the offensive efforts for the Mountaineers with 13 points. He went 3-for-7 from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line.

Jamel Hollins led the Mountaineers with five rebounds and Harris led the team in blocks with four.

As a unit, the Mountaineers shot 45% from the field throughout the 40-minute game. They registered 16 points off of their bench with a total of 34 points in the paint.
