GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado will open conference play on Friday, December 1 at 5 p.m. against Adams State, followed by a match up with Fort Lewis on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m.  

Throughout the second half of Friday's game Western's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will have a 50/50 raffle and the winner of the raffle will be announced during halftime of the men's basketball game.  

The Mountaineers look to flip the script against both teams after facing two losses against each team last season.  

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats 

  • The Mountaineers head into the weekend after a 63-50 road win over Northern New Mexico College on Saturday. Rachel Cockman led her team with 22 points and 14 rebounds, which is her third double-double of the season.  

  • As a team the Mountaineers are averaging 56.5 points per game and have a 36.1-percent shooting from the field with 18.5 field goals per game.  

  • Cockman leads the Mountaineers in points (77), points per game (19.3), rebounds (42) and rebounds per game (10.5), while recording four assists this season.  

  • Jayda Maves has shined throughout the first three weeks of her collegiate career averaging ten points per game with a 30.8-percent shooting from the field. Maves and Ivey Schmidt both lead the Mountaineers with eight assists a piece and are averaging two assists per game.  

GRIZZLIES HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats  

  • The Grizzlies are coming off two one-point win victories last weekend and hold a record of 5-3 coming into this weekend.  

  • Adams State has averaged 72.5 points per game this season behind Harmanie Dominguez's 15.5 points per game.  

  • Dominguez leads the Grizzlies in points per game and 3-pointers per game (6.9), while Riahana Davis has tallied 48 total rebounds including 39 defense boards and nine offensive rebounds. She has averaged six rebounds per game.  

SKYHAWKS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats  

  • The Skyhawks come into this weekend with a 3-3 record and a pair of wins over Lincoln University last weekend.  

  • While averaging 66.3 points per game so far this season, the Skyhawks have been strong defensively with 41.3 rebounds per game and 16.3 steals per game.  

  • Lanae Billy leads her squad in total points with 63, while Kelsey Sorenson leads the team in points per game with 15.7. Sydney Bevington leads Fort Lewis with 9.4 rebounds per game with a total of 31 defensive rebounds this season.

The Mountaineers will head to the front range to take on Colorado Christian on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. They then will go to Chadron Neb., to take on Chadron State on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
