GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado volleyball welcomes Colorado State University Pueblo and Adams State University to Paul Wright Gym on Friday and Saturday for the Mountaineers' final homestand of the season.

The weekend also brings a Blackout Night on Friday against the ThunderWolves and both an 80s Night and Senior Night on Saturday against the Grizzlies.

WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats
  • With four matches still remaining in the regular season, Western – with a 5-17 overall record and a 2-8 league record – has already eclipsed the previous season's win total (4).
  • Two Mountaineers have knocked down more than 200 kills this season. Maggie Olson leads the category with 233 kills while Seyun Park is not far behind with 222. Last season only one player surpassed the 200 kills mark, finishing with a team-high 229.
  • Olson's 3.11 kills per set average ranks ninth among RMAC attackers, while Park's .334 attack percentage is sixth best in the conference.
  • Nur Turkmenoglu ranks within the league leaders in both set assists and service aces. She is sixth in assists at 8.9/set (703 total) and 13th in service aces at 0.37/set (29 total).
  • Ranked five spots higher, in eighth, in service aces per set is Kennedy Kelly at a rate of 0.41 over 51 sets.
  • Elizabeth Rupprecht – a graduating senior making her final appearances on the Paul Wright Gym court – leads the team in digs with 287, and her average of 3.68/set is eighth best within the conference. At the net it's Park leading the way with 42.0 blocks (9 BS, 33 BA).
CSU PUEBLO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats
  • The ThunderWolves are fourth in the RMAC standings with an 8-2 record and are 11-11 overall. All time against Western they are 19-7 and have won the last three matches against the Mountaineers.
  • In its previous seven matches CSUP is 6-1, a record that includes a win over then-No. 6 MSU Denver and scores of 3-1 or 3-0 in each of those six victories.
  • Their .263 attack percentage is third highest in the RMAC, and the Pack are led by three players with more than 200 kills and in the top 15 in the league – Payton Van Veen (7th; 3.25/s, 263 total), Kendall Harrington (14th; 2.94, 226), and Sadie Scoville (15th; 2.82, 231).
  • Sabrina King and Grace Jansen share the setting duties, King accumulating 447 assists with Jensen dishing out 418. King's 5.45/s is 13th in the league, while Jansen is 3rd in service aces at 0.48/s (39 total).
  • Ranked in league defensive statistics are Scoville who is 12th in digs/set (3.16) and Golden Finch who is 11th in blocks/set (0.87).
ADAMS STATE HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats
  • The Grizzlies come into the weekend – playing at Fort Lewis College on Friday before playing Saturday against Western – are 7-5 overall and 3-7 in the league. They sit 12th in the RMAC standings, one spot ahead of the Mountaineers.
  • Adams State is 20-7 overall against Western but lost the most recent match, falling to Western, 3-1, on the Mountaineers' Senior Night last season.
  • Leading attackers Anna Huggins and Cindy Garcia have identical kills totals, 175, but Garcia's average of 3.02/set is 11th in the RMAC and slightly better than Huggins' 2.73 mark.
  • Most often, Remi Vargas handles all the setting duties for Adams, leading the team with 401 assists at a rate of 5.28/set.
  • While Natalie Gallegos leads in blocking with 56.0 total blocks, her rate of 0.75/set is behind teammate Katie Bauer's 0.98/set (42.0) which is sixth best in the RMAC.
