HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ

Tied at 55 going into the five-minute overtime period, the mountaineers outscored TAMUK in the first half, but the Javlinas bounced back in the second half. The Mountaineers came into overtime strong with Jamel Hollins scoring on a layup and a free throw to put his team up by one two minutes into the period. Â

The Mountaineers went on a four-point run with 18 seconds left before the Javlinas pulled within two with seven seconds left in the game. A pair of free throws made by Trevin Lieck had his squad up by four with one second on the clock. Allen Singleton then made a three-point shot at the buzzer but only pulled his team within one and the Mountaineers claimed their second win of the season. Â

Halfway through the first, Western Colorado had a ten-point lead with 8:39 left on the clock. The lead then was cut to eight after a good jump ball by Dillon Gooding. The Mountaineers went into halftime with a 29-25 lead. Â

TAMUK did not have their first lead of the second half until the 14-minute mark but could not go on a consistent run and kept exchanging points with the Mountaineers until the final buzzer and the two teams were tied. Â
COURT NOTESÂ

Avery Rembao led the Mountaineers with 17 points while going 6-for-15 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Â

Jamel Hollins had a stellar night against the Javlinas with 14 rebounds and 16 points registering his first double-double of the season. 12 of his 14 rebounds were defensive boards while going 6-for-9 from the field. Â

The team shot a strong 48-percent from the field in the first half while 38 of their points were from inside the paint. They recorded a 44.6-percent shooting from the field over the 45-minute contest. Â
