HOW IT HAPPENED

With one minute and 58 seconds left on the clock, Shannon Strickland came up with a three-pointer to put the Dust Devils up three points. After a Mountaineer timeout, Avery Rembao was able to put the Mountaineers within one with 38 seconds left.

Matthew Okoye then got fouled with less than five seconds on the clock to give him two attempts at the free throw line. He made both attempts with one second left on the clock. Amar Rivers turnover over the ball off a steal by Strickland to end the game.

Texas A&M International outscored the Mountaineers 33-27 in the second half after being down 35-32 going into halftime. The Mountaineers largest lead of the night, seven points, came with two minutes and nine seconds left in the first half. Their largest lead of the second half was a pair of six-point leads through the 20-minute period.

Both squads capitalized on points off the bench throughout the night, as the Mountaineers had 32 points off their bench and the Dust Devils had 21.

The Mountaineers dominated the first half going 55.5-percent shooting from the field while registering a 42.8-clip from beyond the arch. In the second half, Western Colorado recorded a 42.1-percent shooting from the field while shooting a strong 76.9-clip from the charity strip.

Jaelan McCloud and Xavier Harris both had strong performances off the bench with McCloud recording 10 points and Harris with 15. McCloud went 4-for-5 from the field making two of his three attempts from three-point range. Harris went 6-for-7 from the field.

Defensively, Avery Rembao, Kade Juelfs and McCloud each had two steals. Juelfs led the Mountaineers in rebounds with six.
