The Mountaineers tried to stop the fast-paced offense of TMU, but the Pioneers started the game on an 11-point run before Eva Kingston got Western Colorado on the board with a driving layup. Western Colorado closed the first quarter only six points behind TMU after Leila Patel made a three pointer off a Western Colorado turnover.

The Pioneers outscored the Mountaineers 19-11 in the second quarter behind a strong performance from Patel who scored eight points in the quarter. Rachel Cockman led the Mountaineers at halftime in points (6) and rebounds (5), while Natalie Jojola had four points and two rebounds in the first half.

Western Colorado had a slow start to the second half with only eight points in the third quarter behind four points from Rachel Cockman. The Pioneers recorded 13 points in the quarter as Averee Kleinhans led her squad with four points.

The Mountaineers and Pioneers both scored 16 points in the final 15 minutes as Western Colorado had their best quarter of the game as Cockman led the quarter with nine points.

Cockman had a team high of 19 points, only one point off the game high of 20 points from the Pioneers' Leila Patel. Cockman also recorded a game-high 12 rebounds including eight defensive boards.

As a team the Mountaineers registered a 30.4-percent shooting from the field as TMU recorded a 36.7-clip from the field. Western Colorado saw their best shooting percentage in the fourth quarter with a percentage of 42.8.

Jayda Maves, Ivey Schmidt and Eva Kingston all recorded a pair of assists for a team high while Ahrianna Morgan had a game-high of six assists.
