HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mountaineers got on the board early as Deyvon Butler scored twice in the first quarter and had a 82-yard touchdown run in the second registering three of the Mountaineers four touchdowns in the first half.

While the Western Colorado defense held Black Hills State to a total of 92 yards on offense in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets were held to two only field goals in the first half.

Neither team scored in the third quarter, but the Yellow Jackets scored twice in the fourth including a 50-yard pass from Tanner Clarkson to Cameron Goods. Nolan Susel also scored for the Yellow Jackets.

Drew Montez and Sage Yazzie also registered touchdowns for the Mountaineers.
FIELD NOTES

Nash contributed to the Mountaineers win with 129 passing yards and one touchdown. He also registered 49 rushing yards.

Butler had a stellar day with 130 rushing yards over 17 attempts, three touchdowns and three punt returns for a total of 84-yards.

Montez collected 48-yards over four receptions and ten 10 rushing yards.

Kendall Lightfoot, Wyatt Buhr and Ricky Freymond each registered one sack for a total of 22-yards. Dylan Cardenas also registered a tackle for a loss of six yards. Lightfoot, Buhr and Freymond all registered two tackles for a loss a piece.
