Esports semester in review

GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado Esports program concludes the spring 2022 semester with three teams competing in Nationals. The program currently competes in five varsity games between Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League, Rainbow Six and Super Smash Bros.
 
This past semester all seven teams competed over all five titles in the NECC (National Esports Collegiate Conference) and ACES Series as Western Colorado fielded two Overwatch teams, one League of Legends team, a Rainbow Six team, two Rocket League teams and a Smash team. Five of those seven teams made the post season in their respected bracket, as both Rianbow Six and Overwatch Slate finished second in their bracket.
 
The three teams that competed in NECC Nationals were Rainbow Six, Overwatch Crimson and Overwatch Slate. Overwatch Slate finished 2-2 at Nationals, as Overwatch Crimson went 1-2 and Rainbow Six went 0-2. 

In the regular season, Rocket League Crimson finished 3-10, Rocket League Slate went 0-9, Rainbow Six finished 3-4 to qualify for playoffs and went 2-1 in playoffs to finish second, Smash finished their season with a 5-8 record, Overwatch Crimson went 1-8, Overwatch Slate finished 5-4 to qualify for playoffs and went 2-1 to place second, and League of Legends finished 1-7. 
 
Next year Western Colorado will compete in all five varsity games in NECC, with hopes of becoming champions.
