LAS VEGAS, N.M. Coming off their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference loss of the season, Western Colorado responded against Black Hills State (Oct. 15) defeating the Yellow Jackets 28-27 and now will look to pick up another win on Saturday (Oct. 22) against New Mexico Highlands.
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • In five RMAC games the Mountaineers have the fourth best offense scoring 30.6 points per game and have the sixth best defense giving up 27.4 points per game.
  • Josh Cummings is third in the RMAC in rushing yards with 438 yards, averaging 87.5 yards per game, and three touchdowns. Passing wise, Connor Desch has thrown for 938 yards (fifth best), and 12 touchdowns (third best). Catching a lot of those yards from Desch, Malik White is seventh in receiving yards with 343 yards and five touchdowns (tied for second best).
  • On the defensive side, Carson Mandrell is second in the RMAC in tackles with 45. Darrious Gaines has seven pass break ups (second best) and Ethan Sanchez-Maxwell is tied for first in interceptions with three.
COWBOYS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • New Mexico Highlands has the ninth best offense scoring 23.6 points per game and fifth best defense giving up 25.6 per game.
  • Shawntay Mills is leading the RMAC in rushing with 521 yards and is tied for third in touchdowns with six. In the pass game Preston Pearson is last in the RMAC in passing yards with 665 yards and six touchdowns (seventh best). Catching 473 yards from Pearson, CJ Sims is fourth in the league in receiving yards and has two touchdowns.
  • Devin Coney is leading the Cowboys in tackles with 33, while Ethan Smiley has 6.5 tackles for loss (second best). Simley is also fifth in the RMAC in sacks with 3.5 and Peyton Small has six pass breakups (third best).
