LAKEWOOD, Colo. Western will attempt to get a winning streak started tomorrow (Feb. 1) against Colorado Christian University as they look to sneak into the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament.
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western had a decent weekend, beating Westminster 76-67 (Jan. 28) then lost a close game against Colorado Mesa University (Jan. 29) 81-72. Matthew Ragsdale was the leading scorer in both games scoring 25 and 20-points.
- With the win and loss this past weekend, the Mountaineers are currently in 13th place (4-9) in the RMAC standings with nine games left in the season.
- Avery Rembao has started to get things going recently on the offensive end – scoring 16 and 10-points against the Griffins and Mavericks – and now is Western's second leading scorer, averaging 9.8-points. Jaelan McCloud is right behind Rembao scoring 9.7-points, while shooting a team high 45.9 percent (No. 1 RMAC) from three.
- Defensively, Elijah Davidson has been solid defending shot blocking 1.3 shots per game.
- The Mountaineers have the fourth ranked offense scoring 79.4 points a game and the last ranked defense allowing teams to score 84.2-points.
COUGARS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Colorado Christian will look to get back on track when they take on the Mountaineers, currently on a two-game losing streak and sitting in last place (2-10) in the RMAC standings.
- Despite their struggles to win games, the Cougars have some of the top scorers in the RMAC conference. Led by Ross Williams who averages 18.7-points (No. 6 RMAC), followed by DJ McDonald who averages 14.2-points (No. 19 RMAC) and Andy Stafford who averages 13.6-points (No. 24 RMAC).
- Williams is also a factor on the defensive end, stealing the ball on average 1.2 times a game. Isaiah Alonzo is the leading rebounder for Colorado Christian grabbing 6.3 boards (No. 9 RMAC) per game.
- The Cougars have the 14th ranked offense scoring 67.4-points per game and 11th ranked defense giving up 76.4-points.

The Mountaineers will return home on Friday, Feb. 4, taking on University of Colorado at Colorado Springs at 7:30 p.m. Following the conclusion of that game, Western will host New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.
