GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado battled the entire game and managed to keep it pretty close. Yet, the Yellow Jackets did just enough to squeak away with a 98-92 victory.
Matthew Ragsdale scored his 1,000th career point in the game, with 1:59 left in the game, stealing the ball from a Black Hills State player and driving all the way to the basket for the lay-up.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellow Jackets held a seven-point lead (31-24) with 5:14 left to go in the first half. However, the Mountaineers walked Black Hills State down.
- Avery Rembao pitched in with four-points, while Kade Juelfs and Gino Corridori each pitched in with two-points apiece to trim the Yellow Jackets lead to three-points at halftime.
- Jaelan McCloud was the leading scorer for Western at halftime with eight-points, Rembao was right behind him with seven-points of his own.
- It appeared Black Hills State was taking control of the game with 5:24 left to play, holding a 79-68 lead. But, once again the Mountaineers showed they never give up.
- Western did their best to get back into the game, coming within four-points of the lead. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time left in the game.
COURT NOTES
- Ragsdale was the leading scorer for the Mountaineers scoring 26-points in the game, and had help from Rembao who pitched in with 14-points, Juelfs who pitched in with 12-points and McCloud who had 11-points.
- Overall Western shot 53.3 percent from the field, 44 percent from three and 65.4 percent from the free throw.
- For the Yellow Jackets, they leaned on Adam Moussa, Joel Scott and Sava Dukic for the entire game. Moussa had 32-points, Scott had 28-points and Dukic had 27-points.
- The rest of the Black Hills State players combined for 11-points.
- The Yellow Jackets shot 48.5 percent from the field, 37 percent from three and 84.6 percent from the free throw line.
