GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado volleyball defeated Fort Lewis College for their home opener in Paul Wright Gym on Tuesday night as the Mountaineers won 3-1 (W, 25-18, 25-14, 24-26, 25-15).

The Mountaineers came out swinging, as they clinched the first two sets by an average of nine points. Then the Skyhawks made a few adjustments after going down 2-0 and sent the third set into overtime to win 26-24. Western Colorado regathered their composure and bounced back to a 25-15 victory to close out the match.

Kat Finnerty was an absolute beast at the net as she recorded eight blocks on the night, along with earning 10 kills (the third most for the Mountaineers). Leading Western Colorado in both kills and digs was
Emily Mangone who recorded 12 kills and 28 digs. Second on the stat chart for kills was Mountaineer
Jaeda Davis-Golliher who recorded 11 kills and was second on the team with three blocks.

Continuing to rack up her season assist stats was Western Colorado's
Alex Galicia who recorded 41 assists and one ace. Also serving an ace were Mountaineers
Elizabeth Rupprecht and
Julia Antu.

Western Colorado volleyball will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 24 as they travel to Regis University to take on the Rangers at 7 p.m.
