Western Colorado falls to Colorado Christian on the road

LAKEWOOD, Colo. --- Western Colorado volleyball falls 3-2 (20-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-12, 15-13) against Colorado Christian University on the road.
 
The Mountaineers had a great start to the match, winning the first two sets by an average of four points. Then Western Colorado was unable to close out the match as they let the next three sets slip away, giving the Cougars the comeback home victory.
 
Statistically the Mountaineers bested the Cougars in blocks and aces. Western Colorado put up 12 blocks on the night along with seven aces in the five set match.
 
Leading the team in blocks was freshman Savanna Meyer who put up a season high of nine blocks, followed by Hanna Hendrickson with five blocks, then Jordyn Todd and Caroline Parker each with three.
 
The team had lots of success with their serving as three Mountaineers recorded two aces on the night. Lyria Brook, Kaia Ghosh, and Nicole Gonzales each recorded two aces, as Elizabeth Rupprecht earned one ace.
 
Savanna Meyer also led the team in kills with 11 on the night, followed by Kaia Ghosh with nine, and Caroline Parker with eight kills. Most of those assists coming from Hanna Hendrickson who put up 38 assists over the five set match.
 
Four Mountaineers were in the double digest in digs, led by senior Lyria Brook and sophomore Elizabeth Rupprecht who each earned 14 digs. Followed by Jordyn Todd with 13 digs and Kaia Ghosh with 11digs.
 
Western Colorado will be back in action Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as they face off against the ThunderWolves of CSU Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado.
