GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado volleyball falls to No. 8 Colorado School of Mines in a terrific match in Paul Wright Gym. The Orediggers took home the victory 3-2 (25-14, 29-27, 20-25, 24-26, 23-21), with two sets going into overtime.

After losing the second set in overtime to go down 2-0, the Mountaineers rallied to win the third and fourth set. With their momentum, Western Colorado went point for point with the No. 8 ranked team in the nation for the fifth set. The Mountaineers tied it up 15-15 with a kill from
Caroline Parker. From there, the Mountaineers had four opportunities to win the match, but the Orediggers were barely able to hang on to defeat Western Colorado 23-21.

Leading the team with 20 kills was sophomore
Jordyn Todd, followed by
Caroline Parker and
Savanna Meyer each with nine kills. Most of those kills coming from an assist from
Hanna Hendrickson as she earned a season high of 47 assists on the night.

Hendrickson and
Elizabeth Koch also made it tough on the Orediggers as they each racked up eight blocks, with teammate
Savanna Meyer earing six blocks.

It was a team effort to keep the ball alive as five Mountaineers earned 14 or more digs on the night, with
Lyria Brook leading the charge with 17 digs as the libero followed by
Elizabeth Rupprecht with 16 digs,
Hanna Hendrickson and
Jordyn Todd each with 15 digs, and
Kaia Ghosh earning 14 digs.

Making an impact with her serving was Mountaineer
Nicole Gonzales as she earned three service aces on the night, Hendrickson and
Kaia Ghosh each had one ace in the match.

The Mountaineer will be back in action of Friday, Feb. 19 as they travel to Chadron State College to play a double header against the Eagles.
