Salt Lake City, Utah – Western Colorado volleyball defeats the Griffins of Westminster College on the road. The Mountaineers walked away with the victory 3-2 (20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-9). With a valiant second half of the match, Western Colorado was able to squeak out the victory.

After losing the first and second set to go down 2-0, the Mountaineers rallied to win the third set. With their momentum, Western Colorado kept the pressure on by dominating in the fourth set 25-16. From there the Mountaineers came out strong and were able to lock down the victory with a kill from
Elizabeth Koch.

Leading the team with 20 kills was freshman
Kaia Ghosh, followed by
Jordyn Todd with 16 and
Elizabeth Koch with 15 kills. Most of those kills coming off an assist from
Hanna Hendrickson as she earned a season high of 57 assists on the night.

Elizabeth Koch also made it tough on the Griffins as she racked up four blocks on the night, with teammates
Savanna Meyer and
Caroline Parker each earing three blocks.

It was a team effort to keep the ball alive as five Mountaineers reached double digits for digs on the night, with
Lyria Brook leading the charge with 24 digs as the libero followed by
Jordyn Todd with 18 digs,
Hanna Hendrickson with 17 digs,
Elizabeth Rupprecht with 16 digs, and
Kaia Ghosh earning 10 digs.

The Mountaineers accumulated five service aces,
Kaia Ghosh and
Elizabeth Rupprecht each earned two, as
Nicole Gonzales had one ace on the night.

The Mountaineer will be back in action on Monday, Mar. 1 as they play Chadron State College at 12 p.m. in Salt Lake City.
