GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- Western Colorado Swimming and Diving falls to Colorado Mesa on the road. The Mavericks bested the Mountaineers 190-90 in the head-to-head dual meet held in El Pomar Natatorium.

Colorado Mesa came into the meet as the top rated team in the RMAC, as the Mountaineers were voted the sixth best RMAC team in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The highlight for the Mountaineers came in the second event of the day when Western Colorado's
Sydney Skiles finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Skiles had the top finish for the Mountaineers as she clocked a time of 11:07.11.

In the first event of the day, 200-yard medley relay, Western Colorado put in a valiant effort as they came in fourth with a time of 1:57.70. On the relay team were Mountaineers
Kali Stier,
Emma Wilke,
Anna Maurello, and
Hadley Nelson.

Arden Tesch had a strong performance for the Mountaineers as she took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.32.

Freshman
Emma Wilke also clinched an individual fourth place finish as she clocked 1:11.42 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In the 50-yard freestyle,
Hadley Nelson was the fourth swimmer to touch the wall as she finished in a time of 25.67.

Placing fourth in both the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive was Mountaineer
Sarah Mortenson. Mortenson scored 171.38 in the 1-meter and 188.70 in the 3-meter to lock down her spot in the rankings.

In the 200-yard backstroke,
Kali Stier from Western Colorado finished fourth overall. Stier finished in a time of 2:15.66 to lock down that fourth-place spot.

Sophie Vigil swam strong in the 200-yard breaststroke as she clocked a time of 2:35.15 to finish fourth in the event.
