Mountaineer football adds Stephen F. Austin to 2020 schedule

GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado football program has added another game to its 2020 schedule as the Mountaineers will travel to take on Division-I FCS Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 31 in Nacogdoches, Texas. A time has yet to be determined.

While no information on attending this particular game is available, fans will be allowed at the Lumberjacks' home opener Saturday against West Texas A&M. For an idea of what it could look like for the Oct. 31 game, click here for information about attending a game at SFA's Homer Bryce Stadium.

The Mountaineers haven't faced Stephen F. Austin in their history and haven't played a current Southland Conference team since 1978 when Western defeated Central Arkansas, 21-17. Western's only other game against a current Southland Conference team was a 39-14 loss to Abilene Christian in 1948.

SFA is currently 0-3 on the season with losses to D-I FBS schools UTEP (24-14), UTSA (24-10) and SMU (50-7).

This gives Western two games this season as the Mountaineers take on rival Colorado Mesa on Nov. 7.
