GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado swimming and diving is back in action for the 2020 season, as the Mountaineers are set to host the Dixie State Trailblazers on Thursday at 5 p.m. in Paul Wright Natatorium.

The last time was Mountaineers competed in the pool was on Dec. 14 as they faced Adams State head-to-head, winning 175.5 to 78.5 over the Grizzlies. The last time Dixie State competed was on also on Dec. 14 against the University of San Diego, where they lost 189 to 62.

The Mountaineers have yet to race the Trailblazers this season, last season Western Colorado lost to Dixie State 171 to 91.
Looking for victories in there events on Thursday are Mountaineers
Savannah Tice in the 100-back and 50-free,
Arden Tesch in the 1,000-free and 500-free,
Addison O'Donnell in the 200-free and 100-free,
Jordyn Richey in the 100-butterfly and 200-IM, along with
Alex Johnson and
Jocelyn Jo in the 100-breast.

In the national rankings, Dixie State comes into to meet ranked No. 20 in division two. The Trailblazers only sit one spot above the Mountaineers in the RMAC standings as they currently hold the third place slot.

The Mountaineers have only had two losses this season, coming from nationally ranked No. 12 Colorado Mesa and No. 17 Colorado School of Mines. Western Colorado ranks fourth in the RMAC, based on CollegeSwimming national rankings and ranked No. 46 nationally.

The Mountaineers will be back in action next weekend as they head to Grand Junction to take on Colorado Mesa University on Jan. 18. Following Thursday's meet, check back in to GoMountaineers.com for results and a full recap of the event.
