WCU's Allis named RMAC Wrestler of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Western Colorado freshman Patrick Allis for this second time this season knocked off the No. 1 wrestler at his weight class and he was rewarded Tuesday by being named the RMAC Wrestler of the Week.

Allis - ranked 10th at 125 pounds - knocked off No. 1 and defending national runner-up Joshua Portillo of Nebraska-Kearney 10-4 at the Midwest Duals in Kearney, Nebraska. It highlighted a 3-0 performance by Allis that also included a tech fall (16-1) over Northern State's Landen Fischer and a pin (4:24) of Jake Patch of Newman.

Earlier this season, Allis knocked off defending 125 pound national champion and then-No. 1 Carlos Jacquez (he's now ranked No. 3).

The Larkspur, Colorado, native is now 22-6 on the season.

The Mountaineers return to to RMAC action this week as they travel to Grand Junction on Thursday to take on No. 12 San Francisco State before hosting No. 9 Colorado School of Mines 7 p.m. Saturday.
