GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado swimming and diving heads to Grand Junction to take on the No. 10 nationally ranked Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University on Saturday at the El Pomar Natatorium.
The Mavericks hold the first place spot in the conference as Western Colorado sits in the fourth place position. The Mountaineers come in ranked No. 46 in division two based on CollegeSwimming rankings.
Western Colorado has lost the last eight duals when going up against Colorado Mesa, dating back to Jan. 22, 2016. The Mountaineers will look to break this losing streak on the road this Saturday, with events starting at noon.
The 16-event dual will consist of 14 swimming events as well as both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Looking to clock a fast time in the 200-yard medley relay for the Mountaineers are
Savannah Tice,
Alex Johnson,
Rylee Denney, and
Addison O'Donnell.
Tice will also look for victories in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke, as she will race against the top ranked RMAC athletes of Colorado Mesa.
O'Donnell will also look to perform well in the short events as she is scheduled to race in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle.
Also looking to make a splash in the 100-yard freestyle will be freshman
Hadley Nelson.
In the longer events,
Arden Tesch will look to earn gold in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle, as she has clocked some of the top times in the RMAC.
