ST. GEORGE, Utah – Western Colorado University women's basketball suffered their first loss on the road this season, falling to Dixie State University 56-67 Friday night.

Western (14-6, 10-6 RMAC) led after the first quarter, 10-8. However, it would be the only quarter the Mountaineers would win against Dixie State (12-8, 8-8 RMAC).

The Mountaineers led by six points at the 7:40 mark of the second quarter. It was the largest lead of the game for Western.

Tammarrah Gothard led Western with 15 points. The point guard also recorded five rebounds.

Samantha Coleman reached double figures in scoring for the Mountaineers, adding 12 points.

The loss moves the Mountaineers into a five-way tie for third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.

Western will look to separate themselves from the pack on Saturday with a game at Westminster College at 5 p.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah.
