SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Western Colorado University and Westminster College battled for every point Saturday night. However, the Mountaineers were unable to earn a victory on the road, falling to the Griffins 52-66.

Western (14-7, 10-7 RMAC) traded baskets with Westminster (18-3, 16-1 RMAC) to begin the game and trailed by just three points, 15-18, after the first quarter.

The Griffins began to pull away in the second quarter on their home court, taking a 37-25 lead into halftime.

There wasn't much separation between the two squads in the second half, but the Mountaineers were unable to cut into the Westminster lead.

Sophomore
Jessie Erickson played all 40 minutes on Saturday, scoring a season-high and tying a career-high 18 points. Erickson was 4-of-4 from beyond the arc, while also adding three rebounds and two assists.

Forward
Jadyn Kanzler also reached double figures in scoring, adding 10 points.

As a team, Western shot 63.6 percent from beyond the arc, making 7-of-11 three-point attempts.

The Mountaineers are now tied with Metro State University Denver for sixth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.

Western will continue the road trip next weekend at Regis University and Colorado Christian University.
