MBB | Western can't hold on to Westminster

Salt Lake City, Utah – Western Colorado University men's basketball is defeated by Westminster College. The 11th ranked RMAC Griffins outscored the Mountaineers 61-88 on Saturday night. Despite the men's improvements in the second quarter, Western couldn't pick up the slack from the first quarter.

In the first quarter Western shot 30.77 percent from behind the three pointer, making four of thirteen. The Mountaineers improved in the second by shooting 44.44 percent, making four of nine from behind the three point line.

Monroe Porter was the leading scorer for the Mountaineers with 13 points, hitting four of six field goals. Western had two others in the double digits in shooting, Jackson Ehrlin with 12 points and Brady Subart with 10 points.

Subart shot 75 percent from behind the three pointer, making three of four attempts.

Despite having less turnovers than the Griffins, Western wasn't able to capitalize on them and turn them into points.

Jake Connor of Westminster scored 22 points, shooting 50 percent from behind the three pointer.

With only five games left in the season, Western looks to get a win next weekend on the road against Regis University and Colorado Christian University.
