GUNNISON, Colo. – Western women's basketball looks to clinch playoff spot in their final game of the season. The Mountaineers will be on the road this Friday in Grand Junction, Colorado to take on the number one ranked Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University at 5:30 p.m.

Western (12-9 RMAC, 16-9 overall) currently in a three way tie for sixth, looks to punch their ticket to the RMAC playoff tournament with a win this Friday against number one ranked Colorado Mesa University (19-2 RMAC, 22-3 overall).

If the Mountaineers win on Friday night then they are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. If Western loses, then they are still in contention to make the playoffs based on the RMAC tie breaker format. The only way Western wouldn't make the playoffs is if the Mountaineers lose, Black Hills State University (12-9 RMAC), University of Colorado Colorado Springs (12-9 RMAC), and Regis University (11-10 RMAC) all win on Friday night.

Leading the team on offence is sophomore
Samantha Coleman with a team high of 290 points, averaging 11.6 points a game. She also leads the team in three pointers, having made 49 three pointers.

Chandler Willis leads the team in three pointer percentage, hitting 41.1 percent from behind the arch. Willis has made 37 three pointers this season.

Willis and Coleman Rank second and third on the RMAC three pointer percentage list. Helping Western rank second as a team for three pointer percentage.

Senior
Tammarrah Gothard still leads the team in assists, time played, rebounding, steals and is the only player to have started every game of the season. Gothard leads the RMAC in steals with 63, averaging 2.5 each game. She ranks fourth in assists with 99, averaging four per game. Ranked 16
th in the RMAC, Gothard leads her team in rebounding with 152 rebounds as a guard.

Western ranks first in the RMAC for rebounding with 822 rebounds. The Mountaineers rank second for points allowed at 1405, only allowing 56.2 points per game.

Earlier this season the Mountaineers lost to the Mavericks 41-53. Westerns all-time series record against Colorado Mesa is 27-59.

The 2018-19 Mountaineers are currently in a three way tie at second for the most RMAC win in Western history. If they win this Friday they will tie at first for most RMAC wins in a season.

This would also be Western's first playoff appearance since the 2011-12 season. Â
