Mountaineer men head to Grand Junction to take on Colorado Mesa on Friday

GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado men's basketball team end the calendar year with a road game against Colorado Mesa at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Brownson Arena in Grand Junction.

THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | 2019-20 SEASON STATS
Western Colorado evened its RMAC record at 2-2 thanks to a pair of home wins this past weekend, beating Chadron State 69-66 on Friday and MSU Denver 64-63 on Saturday. In both games the Mountaineers led by double figures in the first half before holding on to win, including Will Willis hitting a game-winner as the buzzer sounded Saturday against the Roadrunners. 

Cole Sienknecht continues to lead the Mountaineers in scoring at 13.4 points per game and has connected on a team-best 19 3-pointers (shooting 34.5 percent from 3-point range. Jackson Ehrlin is second in scoring at 11.2 points per game while leading the team in rebounding (6.8), assists (2.8) and blocks (0.6). Monroe Porter has done a bit of everything this season for WCU, averaging 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals (tops on the team) and 0.4 blocks.

COLORADO MESA HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Mavericks used a steal and layup in the final 15 seconds to beat MSU Denver 60-58 on Friday before defeating Chadron State 84-70 on Saturday to move to 3-1 in RMAC play. Georgie Dancer led the Mavs with 20 points in the win over the Roadrunners on Friday while Kolton Peterson led CMU on Saturday with 18 points off the bench (going 6-for-7 from 3-point range) on Saturday in the win over the Eagles.

The Mavericks are fourth in the RMAC in scoring at 83.4 points per game while they are third in scoring margin at plus-9.1 points. Dancer leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game to go along with 3.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Tommy Nuno is averaging 14.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.6 steals while Michael Skinner is at 11.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals. Peterson is averaging 8.8 points and is shooting an RMAC-best 53.8 percent from 3-point range (28-for-52).
