GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado swimming and diving heads to Alamosa to face the Adams State Grizzlies in a head-to-head dual.

The meet will take place on Saturday and is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. (MST) in Alamosa, Colorado.Â

This will be the first head-to-head dual between the two team this season, although they have competed against each other in the first meet of the year at the CSU Pueblo 4-Way Dual. The Mountaineers won the event by beating CSU Pueblo, Adams State, and Colorado College, Western outscored the Grizzlies 193-67 to bring home the title.

Looking to make a splash on Saturday will be Mountaineers
Jocelyn Jo,
Alex Johnson and
Jordyn Richey as they will all compete in the 50-breaststoke, all looking to finish in the top three on Saturday.
Savannah Tice will look for gold in the 50-backstroke as teammate
Addison O'Donnell will race the 200-breaststroke for the first time this season.

Western Colorado will also have
Rylee Denney and
Jordyn Richey competing for a first place finish in the 50-fly.
Adams State has yet to win a team event this season, as they have faced many of the RMAC's top ranked teams. The Mountaineers will go into Plachy Hall Pool looking to extend the Grizzlies losing streak, building up their 5-2 record in the process.

The Mountaineers have only had two losses this season, coming from nationally ranked No. 8 Colorado Mesa and No. 13 Colorado School of Mines. Western Colorado is the ranked fourth RMAC, based on CollegeSwimming national rankings and ranked No. 43 nationally.

This will be the last meet before the holidays and the Western Colorado swimming and diving team will be back in action on Jan. 9, as they will host Dixie State University. For results and recaps, visit GoMountaineers.com following the event.
