GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado men's basketball team hosts the annual Comfort Inn Classic this week with the Mountaineers taking on NAIA schools Midland University 5:30 p.m. Friday and Pacific Union 7 p.m. Saturday. Here's the entire schedule for the event:

THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | 2019-20 SEASON STATS
Western Colorado opened its season two weeks ago on the road in Texas, falling at UT-Permian Basin (96-85) and at No. 7 West Texas A&M (114-58). Last Saturday, the Mountaineers played well against Division-I University of Denver in an exhibition game until the Pioneers pulled away late for the 72-55 victory. Cole Sienknecht led WCU with 19 points in the exhibition contest.

On the season, freshman Josh Tomasi leads the team in scoring (16.5) and rebounding (7.0) while shooting 57.9 percent from the field. Fellow freshman Avery Rembao is also averaging double figures in the first two games at 12 points per contest to go along with 3.5 rebounds per game. Monroe Porter is at 7.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while Sienknecht is also averaging 7.5 points per game.

MIDLAND HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Warriors out of Fremont, Nebraska, are 2-4 on the season, dropping their last three games after starting the year 2-1 - including losing a game last week 85-65 to Dakota Wesleyan.

Ryan Williams leads the team in scoring at 18.8 points per game - which includes a 31-point outburst in Midland's season opener. He's also the team's top rebounder at 8.5 per game. Laurence Merritt is second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points per game and is shooting 50-plus percent from 3-point range (13-for-25, 52 percent). He scored a team-high 22 points in last week's loss.

PACIFIC UNION HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | SEASON STATS
The Pioneers are coming off their second win of the season Wednesday night, beating Westcliff 66-55 in their home opener. Isaiah McCullough led the team with 18 points while De'Rajaee Austin had 15 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals in the victory.

On the season, Marc Williams leads the team in scoring at 12.9 points per game followed by McCullough (11.7) and Tim Ford (10.0). Ford leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 per game while Austin is averaging a team-best 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals.
