GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado defends their home court as they sweep the Grizzlies of Adams State on Friday night 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-14).

Western Colorado accomplished a difficult feat Friday night by never giving up the lead, through all three sets they never let the Grizzlies have more points on the board than them.

The Mountaineers (9-13 overall, 5-9 RMAC) got off to an explosive start and were able to keep their momentum rolling through all three sets. Dominating the Grizzlies (7-16 overall, 4-10 RMAC) early in the match WCU held them to only nine points in the first set.

The second set was an exciting one as the Mountaineers only lead by one at 22-21, with
Maddy Johnson serving she helped Western Colorado win the set 25-21.

To close out the match the Mountaineers went on three four point or more runs, outscoring the Grizzlies 20-6 to wrap up the set and bring home the victory.

As a team, WCU recorded seven aces and seven blocks on the night, with
Myles Hilbert recorded three of those aces along with leading the team in digs with 20. On defense, each earning two blocks against the Grizzlies, were Mountaineers
Maddy Johnson,
Hanna Hendrickson, and
Emilee Scates. Hendrickson also lead the team in assists with 25 and earned 10 digs.

Western Colorado will be back in action tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym as they host the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis College. Â
