PUEBLO, Colo. --- Western Colorado swimming and diving makes a splash for their season opener as they take first place at the CSU-Pueblo 4-Way Dual on Saturday.

The Mountaineers not only won the meet but broke two pool records in the process. Along with bringing home six first place finishes, out of 15 events.

Winning the 100 yard backstroke and setting a new pool record in the process was Mountaineer
Savannah Tice as she clocked a time of fifty-eight point nine-three seconds. Finishing in second behind Tice was
Kali Stier as she finished in 1:02.90.

Also setting a pool record in Pueblo, was Western Colorado's
Arden Tesch in the 500 yard freestyle. Tesch won the event in a time of 5:21.51, seven seconds ahead of second.

The Mountaineers 200 yard medley relay team came away with a victory as they out swam the competition by over four seconds with a time of 1:52.22, representing Western Colorado on the medley team was
Savannah Tice,
Alex Johnson,
Rylee Denney, and
Addison O'Donnell.

Alex Johnson won two individual events at the meet, winning the 50 yard breaststroke in a time of 32.34 then going onto win the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:10.97 with teammates
Jocelyn Jo (2
nd - 1:11.51) and
Jordyn Richey (3
rd – 1:13.18) closely behind.

Wrapping up the meet in the 1,000 yard freestyle,
Arden Tesch and
Lauren Sanders went one two in the event to lock in the Mountaineers first place finish. Tesch touched the wall in 10:56.96, with Sanders 15 seconds back in 11:11.69.

The Mountaineers will host their home opener on Thursday as they dual Colorado Mesa at 5 p.m. in Paul Wright Natatorium. Â Â
