COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Western Colorado cross country competed at the UCCS XC Open early on Saturday morning as part of the team races in Colorado Springs.

The men's 8k race consisted of two 3k laps with an additional 2k lap and the women's 5k race completed one 3k lap along with one 2k lap.

Western Colorado's
Alizabeth Williams was the top finisher on the women's side as she completed the five kilometer course in nineteen minutes and twelve seconds to finish 17
th in the event.

The next Mountaineer to cross the line was
Brooke Satathite, running unattached for Western, crossing the line in 19:20.7 (19
th). Just behind Satathite, redshirt-senior
Jessica Cusick came across in 19:26.9 to finish in 21
st place.

Leading the charge on the men's side was unattached freshman
Simon Kelati as he led the Mountaineers and finished in 6
th place overall in a time of 24:58.7.

The next two Mountaineers to finish on the men's side were freshman
Ryan Outler in 25:21.6 for 22
nd place and
Max Sawyer in 25:34.5 for 29
th place.

Next weekend the Mountaineers are set to host their 69th annual W Mountain Race, the oldest running race in Colorado.
