PUEBLO, Colo. – Western Colorado University Men's Basketball fell short against Colorado State University – Pueblo on the road Friday night. The Mountaineers fell to the Thunderwolves 86-61.
Western (3-11, 0-8 RMAC) was fueled by freshman
Cole Sienknecht's 19 points and seven rebounds, which led all players. Sienknecht also added three assists. It's the third straight game Sienknecht has scored in double figures.
The Mountaineers came out firing and were ahead by three, 15-12, after the first 6:24. However, CSU-Pueblo (5-9, 3-5 RMAC) was able to score 29 before half to take a 41-22 lead into the break.
Western was unable to cut into the lead as the Thunderwolves lept to an 86-61 victory.
Along with Sienknecht,
James Willis scored in double figures for the Mountaineers. Willis scored 10 points while also bringing down six rebounds.
The Mountaineers return to the court Saturday at New Mexico Highlands University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
