GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University hosted Colorado Christian at Paul Wright Gym in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Despite forcing extra points in the third set, Western fell to CCU in three sets, 25-17, 25-10, 28-26.
 
Western (1-15, 0-8 RMAC) came to play in the third set and in the process forced CCU (7-10, 5-3 RMAC) into extra points to take the set. From the first point, it was a tight affair in the third before Western took the lead 8-7. 
 
Throughout the remainder of the set, Western would take the lead eight more times, playing aggressively and forcing CCU to make mistakes. But, the Mountaineers could not overcome the Cougars to force a fourth set, succumbing 28-26 in the final frame. 
 
CCU took the second set, hitting a whopping .423 to out-distance Western 25-10.
 
In the first set, Western fought back in the middle of the set before falling 25-17. 
 
Western saw five women record kills on the night. Emillee Scates, 
Kirsten Companik, and 
Chelsea Bostwick each tallied five kills on the match.
 
Cammi Baumann led Western with 12 digs while Kasel and Companik each recorded a match high four blocks. 
 
Western returns to the court tomorrow versus 24
th-ranked Regis University at 3:00 p.m.
