GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University's
Quincy Harding scored a career high 34 points, but it wasn't enough as the Mountaineers fell to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs 103-94.

Western (3-6, 0-3 RMAC) led UCCS (3-5, 1-2 RMAC) 42-39 at halftime. Accounting for 26 of those points on his own was Harding. The senior ended his night with 34 points and is now averaging 22.1 points per game, which ranks best in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Mountaineers were unable to hold the lead in the second half as UCCS made 19-of-36 field goal opportunities in the final 20 minutes to end the game with a 52.2 percent shooting percentage.

Western hit the boards hard against UCCS, outrebounding the Mountain Lions 47-33. The Mountaineers converted 20 offensive rebounds into 28 second-chance points.

After falling behind in the first half, UCCS pressured Western in the front court and eventually converted 20 turnovers into 37 points.

Five Mountaineers made it into double figures on Saturday. Along with Harding's 34,
Jaire Roberts notched 13,
Brady Subart added 12,
Cole Sienknecht also scored 12, while
Jackson Ehrlin and
James Willis each added 10 points.

Sienknecht was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, making all four baskets from beyond the three-point line.

Ehrlin recorded his first double-double of the season, recording 10 points and grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds.

DaRaun Clark led the Mountain Lions in scoring with 19 points.

Western will be back on the court Sunday against the University of Denver Pioneers in an exhibition game.
