CHADRON, Neb. – At Chadron State University for the first of two road games, Western Colorado University could not be the spoiler as they dropped a 58-77 contest at the Chicoine Center.
With Western (3-7, 0-4 RMAC) unable to get the offense rolling on the night, shooting 39% from the floor, it would not be enough to stop Chadron State (5-5, 3-1 RMAC) on their home court.
Ten players scored for the Mountaineers, but the balanced effort would not wash out 19 turnovers.
Jaire Roberts led Western with 11 points on 45% shooting from the floor.
Western out rebounded Chadron as
Quincy Harding and
Monroe Porter pulled down seven and six rebounds, respectively.
A fast starting Chadron squad shot 50% from the floor in the first half gaining a 40-27 edge on Western in the process.
After the break, Western drew to within nine points at the 16:24 mark following a
Brady Subart three-point basket. But it would be the closest the Mountaineers would get throughout the remainder of the game.
Western returns to action Sunday against Metropolitan State University of Denver with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
