ARVADA, Colo. – Under a steady mist at the Stenger Soccer Complex in Arvada, Colorado, the Western Colorado University Cross Country teams ran to second place finishes at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday.

Alicja Konieczek was the top finisher for the Mountaineers, winning her first RMAC Cross Country title in the women's race. Konieczek crossed the finish line of the 6k in 21:27.9.

As a team, the Western women finished with 36 team points, placing first, third, sixth, eighth, 19
th, 28
th and 32
nd.

Finishing just behind Konieczek in third place was
Sophie Seward with a time of 21:40.7.
Aneta Konieczek placed sixth (21:55.6),
Kennedy Rufener finished eighth (22:00.5),
Cassidy Ahrens placed 19

Bailey Sharon finished 28
th (22:55.6), and Malindi Congour placed 32
nd with a time of 23:06.2.

The Mountaineer men's top finisher in the 8k was
Taylor Stack. Stack placed fourth, finishing in 24:42.9.

Ross Husch finished with a time of 25:16.9,
Charlie Sweeney in 25:21.7,
Kyle Lewis in 25:38.1,

Albert Hesse in 26:18.3, and
Woodrow Murray-Wood in 26:57.7.

Winning both races was Adams State University. The Grizzly men won with 30 points, while the women had 27.

The Mountaineers return to the course on Nov. 17 for the South Central Regional Championships in Denver, Colorado.
