MBB | Comeback falls short against Metro State

DENVER – After falling behind early, Western State Colorado University men's basketball mounted a comeback. However, the deficit was too much as Metro State University defeated the Mountaineers 84-75 in Denver.

Western (7-12, 5-8 RMAC) found themselves behind by 25 points with 14:18 left to play against Metro State (11-8, 10-3 RMAC). However, the Mountaineers weren't finished with the Road Runners, going on a 33-13 run to cut the lead to five points, with 44 seconds to play.

Unfortunately for Western, Metro State wouldn't let the Mountaineers get any closer, winning the game by nine points.

Ben Beauchamp and Brady Subart carried the Mountaineers on the offensive end. Beauchamp scored 29, while Subart added 22.

Saturday was the third straight game Beauchamp scored 20 or more points.

The Mountaineers return to Gunnison for a three-game home stand, starting next Friday against South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
