GUNNISON – Only 16 points separated Western State Colorado University women's swimming and diving from a final home dual victory for 10 seniors, but Colorado Mines wouldn't let that happen as the Orediggers won 110-94 Saturday afternoon in Paul Wright Natatorium.

The Mountaineers won four of 11 swim events today, making the closes of the score that much more impressive with event winners taking nine points while second and third took home a combined seven points.
Randi Yarnell out-touched Mia Wood in the 200 free by three-tenths of a second to take home the first victory, then graduating junior
Ariel Fitch followed up with a win in the 50 free. Yarnell would win the 100 fly, then
Ma'alaea Lawrence ran away with the 100 breast to finish out Western's victories.

Western has a quick turnaround as it finishes a tough stretch of practice and competition. With eyes focused on swimming hard until conference, the Mountaineers will do battle in Grand Junction Monday with Colorado Mesa University. Following that the team will travel to Colorado Springs to compete in the two-day Colorado College Classic before beginning tapering for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.
