DURANGO, Colo. – Western State Colorado University men's basketball team put up a fight, but fell short against the No. 10-ranked Fort Lewis College Friday evening in Durango. The men head to take on their rivals, Adams State University, in Alamosa tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m.

Both teams were very well balanced, with bench points and points off of turnovers making the difference. The Skyhawks jumped on every Mountaineers slip up, scoring 23 points off of turnovers compared to just nine for Western. The Fort Lewis bench also stepped up, scoring 27 points compared to just nine for Western State.

C.J. Schutt was one of the leading scorers in the game, putting up 18 points. Schutt was seven of 13 from the floor and four of five from the foul line. He tied Skyhawk guard Joshua Blaylock with 18 points, though Blaylock also had seven assists.

Also for the Mountaineers,
Danny Hopkins and
Ben Beauchamp each added 15 points. Both tore down five boards to lead the team, while Hopkins also had four assists.
