SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Western State Colorado University women's volleyball team made history Saturday evening against Westminster College by dishing out a school record 14 service aces in a five-set victory (17-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19, 15-12). This was the Mountaineer's ninth fifth-set match, the most since the 2002 season that had a dozen.

Logan Franek both led the team with four aces.
Kitt Campbell,
Avery Burkholder and
Caiden Rexius all had a pair.
Outside of serving, the offense came from
Jordan Eatwell with a team-high 18 kills, hitting .239. She was joined by
Tori Gaherty with 15 kills and
Avery Burkholder with 11. Freshman Campbell stepped in for
Allison Walker tonight at setter, dishing out 45 assists in her second full match this season.
The Mountaineers' defense was stingy, as five Mountaineers had double-digit digs and three more had more than two blocks.
Amanda Maestas was a clean-up machine, dishing out 28 digs in the match, the second-most in her career in a match. She was joined by Campbell with 13 digs,
Linnea Sauer with 11, and Franek and Rexius with 10 apiece. Up front Burkholder had six blocks, while
Kaitlin Verhagen stepped in with four blocks. Gaherty also had a pair of blocks.
The Mountaineers (12-10, 8-6 RMAC) have their hands full for senior weekend, as UCCS and conference-leading MSU-Denver travel to town. Metro is undefeated in conference play, while UCCS is a half-game ahead of Western in the conference standings with a match against S.D. Mines finishing tonight.
Western is currently seventh in the conference, with matches from the teams tied for fifth (UCCS and Adams State) still to be played tonight.
