DURANGO, Colo. – Western State Colorado University went into a second straight fifth set match Saturday evening in Durango, Colorado. The Mountaineers fell after winning the first two sets (25-20, 25-17, 19-25, 22-25, 8-15).

The Mountaineers (7-7, 3-3 RMAC) are now .500 in wins in and out of conference play. With the two losses the team is now tied for seventh with four other teams.

Western played well, as
Tori Gaherty,
Molly Hothan and
Jordan Eatwell put on a hitting clinic. Gaherty led all players with 15 kills, while Hothan hit .345 on 14 kills and Eatwell had 13. Walker put up 44 assists.

Defensively,
Avery Burkholder added to her weekend with six more block assists. She was joined by Hothan's 4 and Gaherty's three. In the back row,
Amanda Maestas had 18 digs, while Gaherty and Walker were targeted often, producing 12 and 11 digs, respectfully.

Uncharacteristic play led to the loss, as the Mountaineers allowed the Skyhawk's to hit over .300 in the third and fifth sets, while hitting negative in the final two sets.
